Terms of Service

Effective 8 September 2026 · Last updated 26 September 2026

The short version

Who these terms are between

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the OneSum application and the website at onesum.app (together, "OneSum"). OneSum is published by OneSum LLC, a single-member limited liability company registered in New Mexico, United States ("we", "us").

OneSum starts with a demo. When you delete the demo to start your own portfolio, the app shows these Terms and the Privacy Policy and asks you to accept them; you cannot go past the demo without accepting. Using OneSum at all, the demo included, also means you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use OneSum.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we change the "last updated" date above, and the app asks you to accept the revised Terms before you continue. If you do not accept them, stop using OneSum.

Your licence to use OneSum

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use OneSum on devices you own or control, for your own use. We keep all other rights.

You may not:

Screenshots of your own portfolio are yours. You are free to publish them — on social media, a blog, a video — without asking us.

Acceptable use

Do not use OneSum for anything unlawful, and do not attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorised access to any system OneSum talks to, including the market data providers it queries. Do not use OneSum to scrape or redistribute market data in bulk; the data belongs to its providers and their terms apply to it.

OneSum is not a broker and gives no advice

OneSum LLC is not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, bank, or money transmitter, and is not registered as any of these. OneSum is a read-only software product. It shows you what you already own. It never moves anything.

Everything OneSum displays — totals, gains, yields, projections, tax figures — is general information, for your own information only. It is produced by arithmetic on data you entered and prices we fetched, so it is only as good as both, and we do not guarantee that it is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for you. It is not a personal recommendation and takes no account of your circumstances. Past performance does not indicate future results.

Verify anything important yourself, and seek professional advice before an investment, tax, or legal decision. You alone are responsible for your decisions, your actions, and their results.

Market data

Prices, exchange rates, dividend records, and corporate actions come from third-party providers. They may be delayed, incomplete, or wrong, and a provider may change, restrict, or withdraw its data at any time. We do not warrant that any figure in OneSum is accurate or current, and we are not liable for a provider's errors or outages. Always check your broker's own statements before acting on anything you see in OneSum.

Your data, and your backups

Your portfolio is stored on your device, not on a server of ours — see the Privacy Policy. That is deliberate, and it has a consequence you should understand: if you lose the device, delete the app, or lose its backup, we cannot recover your data for you. We never had a copy. Keeping your own backup is your responsibility.

You are responsible for what you enter, and for having the right to enter it if it relates to someone else.

Diagnostics

OneSum sends us a short report when it starts, when it exits, and when it stops unexpectedly, so we can see that it runs and fix what broke. These reports carry nothing you typed or hold. When you accept these Terms in the app, it also sends a record of that acceptance and of your choice about diagnostic logs.

Full diagnostic logs, which do include your ticker symbols, quantities and prices, are sent only if you choose to send them: in a separate box, unticked, when you accept these Terms; when the app asks later, at most three times; or at any time in Settings, where you can also turn them off again. Saying no costs you nothing: no feature is withheld. The Privacy Policy says what each kind contains, how long we keep it, and how to delete it. Apple and Google may also give us aggregate, anonymised crash and performance reports, if you have enabled sharing in your device settings.

Price

OneSum is free. It has no in-app purchase, no subscription, and no advertising. If we ever offer a paid feature, we will update these Terms before it is offered. Anything paid would be sold and billed by Apple or Google, under their store terms and refund rules.

Availability

We do not promise that OneSum will be available without interruption or free of defects. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any feature, and we may stop supporting a platform or an operating system version. Because OneSum runs on your device, a version already installed keeps working; it may simply stop receiving updates or live prices.

No warranty

To the fullest extent permitted by law, OneSum is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties. Where that is so, the exclusions above apply only as far as that law permits, and you may have rights that these Terms cannot remove — including, for consumers in the European Union and the United Kingdom, your statutory rights.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, lost opportunity, lost data, or investment losses, arising from your use of OneSum — including losses arising from a price that was wrong, stale, or missing.

Our total liability to you for any claim relating to OneSum is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for OneSum in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty-five United States dollars.

Where the law allows such a limit, a claim relating to OneSum must be brought within one year after it arose.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Claims against us caused by your use

To the extent the law allows, you will compensate OneSum LLC for any claim, loss, or cost, including reasonable legal fees, that someone else brings against us because you used OneSum in breach of these Terms or of the law. This does not apply where the law of your country forbids it for consumers.

Feedback

If you send us an idea, a suggestion, or other feedback about OneSum, we may use it freely, with no obligation to you.

Termination

You may stop using OneSum at any time by deleting it. We may end your licence if you materially breach these Terms. The sections on advice, warranties, liability, claims against us, and governing law survive the end of your licence.

If you installed from the App Store

These Terms are between you and OneSum LLC only. Apple is not a party to them. Apple has no obligation to provide any support or maintenance for OneSum, and is not responsible for any claim relating to it, including product liability, a failure to conform to a legal requirement, or a claim under consumer protection or privacy law. If OneSum fails to conform to any warranty, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Age

OneSum is not directed to children. Do not use it if you are under 13, or under 16 where that is the applicable age. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use OneSum only with the agreement of a parent or guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of New Mexico have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union or the United Kingdom, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence, or of your right to bring proceedings there.

General

If a court finds any part of these Terms unenforceable, that part applies as far as the law allows and the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a right at once, we have not given it up. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about OneSum. We may transfer these Terms to anyone who takes over OneSum; you may not transfer them.
